The Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG Awards) is an awards show presented by the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA). The awards recognize outstanding performances1 in film and television.
History
The SAG Awards were first presented in 1995. The awards were created to recognize the work of actors in film and television, and to promote the work of SAG-AFTRA.

Voting
The SAG Awards are voted on by members of SAG-AFTRA. Members are eligible to vote for the awards if they have been a member of the union for at least one year.
Significance
The SAG Awards are considered to be one of the most prestigious awards in the entertainment industry. The awards are often seen as a predictor of the Academy Awards.
Ceremony
The SAG Awards ceremony is held annually in Los Angeles, California. The ceremony is televised live on TNT and TBS.
