What is the best way to stay young after the age of 70? Is there any evidence of what is most effective?

My best guess based on my experience is stay as active as possible.

I was declining in health in my 50s, overweight, had diabetes and issues from that.

I had 7 heart attacks in one week; had stents fortunately instead of by-pass surgery and it worked.

I used it as a wake up call to start losing weight; I started walking and eating less.

Now I can barely eat a plate of food without feeling stuffed.

Just not hungry.

I walked up to 8 miles daily and have lost 70 pounds.

Actually down to my high school weight.

I started kayaking at 62 and until the drought drained my local river, I was doing that once or twice a week for 2–4 hours.

So got in much better shape.

I feel much better, no longer take blood pressure meds.

Take several meds of course for my heart but cardiologist says it is in excellent health. I was with my two brothers recently, 3 and 4 years older, and both of them are declining health wise.

One does walk, but he is not keeping his weight off and had 4 bypasses a few years back.

I’m just 63 but I do think I can maintain good health for a long while by keeping active as much as possible.

I have some friends in their 70s who keep very active and look great and are in great health.

I know some in their 50s and 60s who don’t, and it sure shows.
